Evaluation, plan-of-care development, and interpretation of results remain the responsibility of the supervising OT.

Key Responsibilities — Core

  • Implement treatment plans and therapeutic activities designed by the supervising OT.
  • Engage patients in interventions that build fine motor, self-care, sensory, cognitive, and functional skills.
  • Collect and document treatment data, patient responses, and progress toward goals per clinic policy.
  • Prepare treatment areas, materials, and adaptive equipment; maintain a safe, organized clinic.
  • Reinforce home programs and provide caregiver education as directed by the OT.
  • Communicate regularly with the supervising OT regarding patient status and progress.
  • Adhere to Florida scope-of-practice rules for OTAs, HIPAA, and clinic policies.

Key Responsibilities — Pediatric

  • Deliver play-based, sensory, and fine-motor activities as planned by the OT; support ADL and handwriting goals.
  • Model activities for caregivers and reinforce OT-approved home strategies.

Key Responsibilities — Adult / Outpatient

  • Carry out OT-designed interventions for upper-extremity, post-surgical, neurological, and ADL/IADL goals.
  • Support functional practice, activity modification, and caregiver training as directed.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate's degree (or higher) from an ACOTE-accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Passing score on the NBCOT Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) examination.
  • Active Florida Occupational Therapy Assistant license (Florida Board of Occupational Therapy Practice) — or eligibility to obtain prior to start.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (or obtained prior to patient contact).
  • Ability to pass a Level 2 (fingerprint) background screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior OTA experience in the applicable setting (pediatric or outpatient/adult).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus; EMR familiarity.

Skills & Competencies

Dependability and follow-through; ability to work within scope and take direction; patience and rapport; organization; teamwork and clear communication with the supervising OT.

Compensation

Rexford Clinics pays competitively for the Central and West Florida market. Compensation is hourly and set by credentials, experience, setting, and schedule, and is reviewed annually. We share a specific range in the first conversation.

Full-time, part-time, and PRN schedules are available.

Relocation assistance and signing bonuses may be negotiated for the right candidate.

You will work under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist with a defined supervision structure, and we support continuing education toward advanced credentials.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Therapy roles at Rexford Clinics are active, hands-on positions. Employees can expect to: stand and walk for extended periods; frequently kneel, crouch, sit on the floor (pediatric settings), bend, and reach; lift, transfer, and physically assist or guard patients (occasionally up to 50 lbs, and more with assistance or equipment); demonstrate exercises and provide manual/tactile cueing; and maintain accurate documentation on a computer. Work is performed in a clinic, gym, or home/community setting and may involve exposure to typical healthcare environments. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the role.
