Position Summary
Rexford Clinics is seeking a licensed Occupational Therapist to evaluate and treat patients whose ability to participate in daily activities is affected by injury, illness, developmental delay, or disability. The OT develops individualized plans of care that build independence in the occupations that matter most to each patient — from a child learning to play, dress, and manage sensory input, to an adult regaining function after injury or surgery.
Key Responsibilities — Core
- Perform comprehensive occupational therapy evaluations; establish individualized, goal-directed plans of care.
- Deliver evidence-based intervention to improve fine motor, visual-motor, self-care, sensory, cognitive, and functional skills.
- Select, fabricate, or recommend adaptive equipment, orthoses/splints, and assistive strategies as appropriate.
- Document evaluations, daily notes, progress, and discharge summaries accurately and on time.
- Educate patients, families, and caregivers; design and progress home programs.
- Supervise and direct Occupational Therapy Assistants, aides, and students as assigned.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team and referring providers; ensure compliance with Florida standards, HIPAA, and payer requirements.
Key Responsibilities — Pediatric
- Evaluate and treat developmental delays, fine motor and visual-motor deficits, sensory processing/integration challenges, handwriting, self-care/ADL skills, and feeding as applicable.
- Use play-based, sensory-rich, family-centered approaches; coach caregivers and coordinate with schools and early-intervention teams.
Key Responsibilities — Adult / Outpatient
- Evaluate and treat upper-extremity injuries, post-surgical rehabilitation, neurological conditions, and deficits affecting ADLs/IADLs and return to work.
- Provide functional, task-specific intervention, ergonomic and activity modification, and caregiver training to restore independence.
Required Qualifications
- Degree in Occupational Therapy from a program accredited by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE).
- Passing score on the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) examination (OTR).
- Active Florida Occupational Therapist license (Florida Board of Occupational Therapy Practice) — or eligibility to obtain prior to start.
- Current CPR/BLS certification (or obtained prior to patient contact).
- Ability to pass a Level 2 (fingerprint) background screening.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the applicable setting (pediatric or outpatient/adult/hand therapy).
- Relevant certifications (e.g., SIPT/sensory integration, Certified Hand Therapist (CHT), feeding).
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus; EMR experience.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
Therapy roles at Rexford Clinics are active, hands-on positions. Employees can expect to: stand and walk for extended periods; frequently kneel, crouch, sit on the floor (pediatric settings), bend, and reach; lift, transfer, and physically assist or guard patients (occasionally up to 50 lbs, and more with assistance or equipment); demonstrate exercises and provide manual/tactile cueing; and maintain accurate documentation on a computer. Work is performed in a clinic, gym, or home/community setting and may involve exposure to typical healthcare environments.
