Speech-Language Pathology Assistant (SLPA)

Rexford Clinics is seeking a Speech-Language Pathology Assistant to support our SLPs in delivering high-quality care. Working under the supervision and direction of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist, the SLPA implements treatment plans, assists with screenings, prepares materials, and documents patient participation and progress. The SLPA does not evaluate, diagnose, interpret results, or alter the plan of care — those functions remain with the supervising SLP.

• Implement documented treatment plans and activities designed by the supervising SLP.
• Assist with screenings and data collection under the SLP's direction (without clinical interpretation).
• Prepare therapy materials, treatment areas, and equipment; maintain a safe, organized environment.
• Document patient participation, responses, and progress data per the SLP's plan and clinic policy.
• Reinforce home-program strategies with patients, families, and caregivers as directed.
• Maintain regular communication with the supervising SLP and adhere to the supervisory plan.
• Follow Florida scope-of-practice rules for SLPAs, HIPAA, and clinic policies at all times.

• Deliver play-based therapy activities as planned by the SLP to support articulation, language, and social-communication goals.
• Support family carryover by modeling activities and sharing SLP-approved home strategies with caregivers.

• Carry out SLP-designed tasks targeting communication, cognitive-communication, and functional goals.
• Assist with caregiver education and functional practice as directed by the supervising SLP.

• Bachelor's degree that meets the Florida coursework requirements for SLPA licensure — at least 24 semester hours of relevant coursework (a minimum of 9 hours in normal human growth/development, speech/hearing/language development, and psychology; and at least 15 hours in speech, hearing, and language disorders, phonetics, articulation, screening/therapy, and audiometry) — or completion of an equivalent SLPA program that satisfies the Board's requirements.
• Active Florida Speech-Language Pathology Assistant license (Florida Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology) — or eligibility to obtain prior to start, including a completed supervisory/activity plan with a qualified supervising SLP.
• Current CPR/BLS certification (or obtained prior to patient contact).
• Ability to pass a Level 2 (fingerprint) background screening.

• Prior experience as an SLPA, therapy aide, paraprofessional, or in early childhood/education.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
• Familiarity with EMR documentation.

Reliability and follow-through; ability to work within a defined scope and take direction; warmth and patience with patients and families; organization; teamwork and clear communication with the supervising SLP.

Therapy roles at Rexford Clinics are active, hands-on positions. Employees can expect to: stand and walk for extended periods; frequently kneel, crouch, sit on the floor (pediatric settings), bend, and reach; lift, transfer, and physically assist or guard patients (occasionally up to 50 lbs, and more with assistance or equipment); demonstrate exercises and provide manual/tactile cueing; and maintain accurate documentation on a computer. Work is performed in a clinic, gym, or home/community setting and may involve exposure to typical healthcare environments.
