Position Summary

Rexford Clinics is seeking a licensed, patient-focused Speech-Language Pathologist to evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with communication, language, cognitive, voice, fluency, and swallowing (dysphagia) disorders. The SLP develops individualized plans of care, delivers evidence-based intervention, and collaborates with families, caregivers, physicians, and the broader therapy team to help each patient reach meaningful, functional goals.

Key Responsibilities — Core

  • Conduct comprehensive evaluations and screenings; select and administer standardized and informal assessments.
  • Diagnose speech, language, communication, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency, and swallowing disorders.
  • Develop, implement, and regularly update individualized plans of care with measurable goals.
  • Provide direct therapy and document progress accurately and in a timely manner in the EMR.
  • Educate and coach patients, families, and caregivers to support carryover outside of sessions.
  • Supervise and direct Speech-Language Pathology Assistants and student interns as assigned.
  • Communicate with referring providers and the interdisciplinary team; participate in care conferences.
  • Maintain compliance with Florida practice standards, HIPAA, payer requirements, and clinic policies.

Key Responsibilities — Pediatric

  • Evaluate and treat developmental speech and language delays/disorders, articulation and phonological disorders, childhood apraxia of speech, receptive/expressive language, social/pragmatic communication, and pediatric feeding/swallowing.
  • Use play-based, naturalistic, and family-centered intervention approaches appropriate to each child's developmental level.
  • Partner closely with parents/caregivers on home programs; coordinate with schools, early-intervention programs, and pediatricians as appropriate.
  • Support Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) needs where indicated.

Key Responsibilities — Adult / Outpatient

  • Evaluate and treat adult communication and cognitive-communication disorders (aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia, cognitive-linguistic deficits), voice disorders, fluency, and dysphagia.
  • Address deficits related to stroke, neurological conditions, traumatic brain injury, and post-surgical or age-related decline.
  • Provide caregiver training and functional, goal-oriented therapy that supports return to daily activities, work, and independence.

Required Qualifications

  • Master's or doctoral degree in Speech-Language Pathology from a program accredited by the Council on Academic Accreditation (CAA) in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology.
  • Active Florida Speech-Language Pathologist license (Florida Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology) — or eligibility to obtain prior to start. New graduates may be hired under a Florida provisional license while completing the supervised postgraduate Clinical Fellowship (CF) and passing the national examination.
  • Passing score on the Praxis Examination in Speech-Language Pathology (or in progress for provisional/CF candidates).
  • ASHA Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) — required or in progress (Clinical Fellows welcome).
  • Current CPR/BLS certification (or obtained prior to patient contact).
  • Ability to pass a Level 2 (fingerprint) background screening.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in the applicable setting (pediatric or outpatient/adult).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
  • Experience with EMR documentation and productivity in an outpatient clinic.
  • Relevant specialty training (e.g., pediatric feeding, AAC, dysphagia/FEES, PROMPT, LSVT LOUD).

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Therapy roles at Rexford Clinics are active, hands-on positions. Employees can expect to: stand and walk for extended periods; frequently kneel, crouch, sit on the floor (pediatric settings), bend, and reach; lift, transfer, and physically assist or guard patients (occasionally up to 50 lbs, and more with assistance or equipment); demonstrate exercises and provide manual/tactile cueing; and maintain accurate documentation on a computer. Work is performed in a clinic, gym, or home/community setting and may involve exposure to typical healthcare environments.
